Experimenting with VR
After playing around with Altspace VR and going to a few events one of the biggest drawbacks I found while using my Gear VR was:
Not being able to see the really world while in VR
only having 1 controller
To overcome this I bought a Leap motion. I 3D printed a mount so I could place it in front the a VR Box Headset and created a quick unity project. That gave me a Pass Thru view from my Android phone camera and allowed me to use and see my hands in VR with using the Leap Motion.
This was surprisingly easy to achieve and other than the Leap Motion which cost £80 allowed me to reuse an old VR headset.

This was more of an experiment but I will be returning to this project as I want to make a fully functional interface when using it in The Expanse.
It's possible I could get basic hand tracking without the Leap Motion I have as I may be able to do image processing using the pass thru view from my Android camera and coloured tips on my finger nails. It should work but not as well as the Leap Motion. This idea is worth pursuing at some point
