Grooming – Hair and Makeup
Wearing make –up for stage is an essential part of a performance. The reason Dancers wear make –up is that the heavy
lighting used for performances washes out all the natural colour in a performers face and they can look very pasty. It is also to
enhance facial features that fade from a distance, so we can clearly see their lovely facial expressions.
Baby Ballet/Jazz/Tap and Acro: Make up for this group is foundation, pink blush and beige eyeshadow, mascara (if they will
let you!) and pink lipstick. Hair will bein further information to come. Please see me if you need any guidance. There will be a
Stage make-up tutorial on our website through the Parent Portal, but there are many more available online.
Junior/Sub Intermediate Students : Hair is different for each item, we will send out a list soon, but hair must be neatly
slicked -gel and hairspray (no flyaway bits please). Make up for this group is foundation, blush, beige/brown eyeshadow, mascara,
eyeliner and red lipstick.

Hair or make up is not permitted to be done in the Foyer by request of the Theatre. This must be done prior to arriving or in the
dressing rooms if they can do it themselves.
