I was screwing around and created and all-caps version of an existing font, I used Verdana, and then just selected that for the label using the Scale auto text tag.

I wanted my page name to be all caps and then realized I could just type the page name (within the Pages window) in all CAPS and the auto text would display it that way. Seems like there should be an easier way to format the text but this ended up being a good work around for me.

INDIANAPOLIS, March 1, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) today announced price reductions of 70% for its most commonly prescribed insulins and an expansion of its Insulin Value Program that caps patient out-of-pocket costs at $35 or less per month. Lilly is taking these actions to make it easier to access Lilly insulin and help Americans who may have difficulty navigating a complex healthcare system that may keep them from getting affordable insulin.

I have the Adobe Chapparal Pro typeface family, and I was under the impression it came with small caps as part of the package. I see small caps in the GLYPHS menu, but I do not see it as an option in the drop box (at the top left of screen where you select roman, itlaic, bold etc ...)

I appreciate your answer, but I was told by my instructor that using the InDesign small caps feature is not a "true" small cap - as engineered / drawn by the font foundry. I am told that menu option is just a jerry-rigged way of skewing a font into a small cap.

Your instructor is correct only in the case of older TT or T1 fonts that don't have character sets large enough to include true small caps, so those glyphs must be supplied in a completely separate font (which you don't get automatically -you have to buy it). OpenType fonts can contain THOUSANDS of glyphs and often have included small caps, ornaments, and glyphs for multiple languages in the same package, particularly the "Pro" designated versions, though the exact sets will vary from font to font.

ID will always use the OpenType small caps when available, but when they are not included it will fall back to font scaling according to the settings in your preferences, which is how all layout programs have always dealt with making small caps when the true small cap font was not available. Bottom line -- if you are using TT or T1 fonts, you'll either have to buy the small caps font if available or settle for fakery. If you use 21st century technology and buy OpenType fonts there's a good chance that you'll get the small caps and a bunch of other stuff thrown in at no additional cost.

Bound version constraints (upper caps) are starting to show up in the Pythonecosystem. This is causing real world problems withlibraries following this recommendation, and is likely to continue to getworse; this practice does not scale to large numbersof libraries or large numbers of users. In this discussion I would like toexplain why always providing an upper limit causes far more harm than goodeven for true SemVer libraries, why libraries that pin upper limits requiremore frequent updates rather than less, and why it is not scalable. Afterreading this, hopefully you will always consider every cap you add, you willknow the (few) places where pinning an upper limit is reasonable, and willpossibly even avoid using libraries that pin upper limits needlessly until theauthor updates them to remove these pins.

If you are doing the capping and are providing a library, you now have acommitment to quickly release an update, ideally right before any cappeddependency comes out with a new version. Though if you cap, how to you installdevelopment versions or even know when a major version is released? This makesit harder for downstream packages to update, because they have to wait for allthe caps to be moved for all upstream.

In the meantime, here is a definition that caps open multipipe ends, with options to crease or triangulate the caps. I also included a clustered version: MultiPipe Cap.gh (48.9 KB)

I was going to suggest using FontForge, which is free and open source, but it can be a little user unfriendly at times and I struggled to get this working in any reasonably easy way with a font that had a large number of small caps (including small cap versions of accented characters and punctuation etc.).

There is a "Smallcaps" filter on the left sidebar under "Letter", but that will only show you small cap variants of letters, not anything else (e.g. punctuation). If you only have small cap letters then the default filter will work fine, otherwise you can create your own filter...

Small caps will be named with a suffix of ".sc" so you can set up a smart filter to show you anything with that suffix. Just hit the cog at the very bottom left of the sidebar and choose "Add Smart Filter":

Use the small caps filter to compare with the rest of the font and and delete all the lowercase variants that you have small caps for; this'll generally be everything you see from the "lowercase" filter and maybe some punctuation and other stuff.

EDIT: You can obviously modify the existing file, replacing the lowercase with the small caps using the same procedures, and re-generating your font with another name and another filename. Just be careful to change the family name everywhere in the Font Info, or you will get a mess.

When I move to the virtual machine which is hosting windows 10, no matter what caps state the virtual machine is in, my caps always goes on when I return to the host. So no caps in host to virtual machine no caps = CAPS when returning to host, no caps on host to caps on virtual machine = CAPS on host. I continually move from virtual machine to host which means that I constantly have to turn CAPS off. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this?

It appears that VMWare is trying to keep track of the caps lock state of the host OS so it can put it back when you switch away from the VM, and it's failing. I also can't get the VM to obey the keyboard caps lock, I have to send it from the menu; this may or may not be related. (VMWare reading the same variable it's writing for caps lock functionality?)

If you enable caps lock in the host OS, switch to the VM, and then switch back to the host, caps lock turns off while in the VM and caps lock will come back on when switching to the host OS. If you then turn caps lock off in the host OS and switch back to the VM, everything seems OK until you go back to the host OS... caps lock will come back on.

And lastly, there is a config option that should turn this caps lock behavior off. If you want to try, add mks.keyboard.setHostLEDs=FALSE to your ~/.vmware/config or ~/Library/Preferences/VMware\ Fusion/config file. Try shutting down Fusion and all running VMs, add that config option, then restart Fusion and whatever VMs you were using and you shouldn't see the caps lock switching like this on you. That should let you guys use Fusion 10 again without this annoying behavior.

On the "VM still ignores the caps lock on the keyboard" bit... in your previous post, I think you disabled it or something in your section "WORKAROUND (sort of) until VMWare fixes the issue"? Did you still have the caps lock disabled or turned off in the VM or something?

Also, I'm not sure if you saw the last comment in my post above, but you can restore the previous (Fusion behavior with regards to caps lock by setting mks.keyboard.setHostLEDs=FALSE in your ~/.vmware/config file.

When I press the Caps Lock key, the LED on the keyboard flickers once and I hear the tone corresponding to the current caps state (not the intended state): it doesn't toggle. If I keep pressing the key, it will eventually enable caps lock, but then it can't be disabled.

I can successfully toggle the caps state of the VM by using the VMWare menu, or the on-screen keyboard within the VM. Interestingly, when the VM's caps state is changed the LED on my physical keyboard will change correspondingly. I reproduced this issue with both of the keyboards mentioned earlier.

...now that I look at that setting change you listed for VMWare 8 behavior, I wonder if there's an unintended loop when VMWare checks caps status and then sets the corresponding LED status. The VM seems to behave like Caps Lock is disabled immediately after it's enabled.

With that configuration line, the caps lock is not synced between host and guest, but at least it doesn't always revert to caps lock when switching to the the host now. Within the guest, there are now some circumstances where a double tap of the caps lock key is needed to actually get caps lock in the guest. Not great, but better.

This is caused by JIRA's integration with an LDAP directory for delegated authentication. In some cases, organizations will have a user provisioning process where an account is created in JIRA before it is created in their LDAP server. The account's username could be entered into JIRA as fluffhead123, but when the LDAP account is created, it has FLUFFHEAD123 listed as its relative distinguished name (username). When the user logs in, their account is then updated with the all caps version of their username. Because most LDAP systems and are not case sensitive, the user can still log in with the lower case version of their username.

Since the Workspace Client Update to version 5.2.1.3123 my num lock and caps lock keys on the keyboard are not working correctly in the workspace. They are opposite on the workspace and local machine. For example - I log onto my workspace with the num lock off and turn it on once I am on my workspace it will work on my workspace but be off on my local machine. If I enable it while working on an application on my local machine it will not work on an application on the workspace. The same thing with the CAPS Lock This is causing users to enter incorrect passwords and not be able to access their workspaces or applications and get locked out. Anyone else experience this since the most recent Workspace client update? e24fc04721
