Making an Impact in the Chemistry Classroom
October 17-18, 2025
Carroll University Waukesha, WI
Under our "Making An Impact in the Chemistry Classroom" theme, we are going to offer sessions covering a wide range of topics including engaging first students in chemistry seminars, fostering active Chemistry Clubs, ACS accreditation, assessment strategies, an introduction to chemical ecology, and more. Of course, we will also offer the traditional sub-discipline breakout sessions, a poster session and plenty of time to reconnect.
Have a poster you want to present? Great! Bring it, we'd love to see it! No abstract submission required.
On Saturday afternoon, Dr. Kristen Murphy will be offering a workshop on Writing Test Specifications. Let us know if you would like to join us for that when you register for the meeting. No extra charge for the workshop.

MACTLAC (Midwestern Association of Chemistry Teachers in Liberal Arts Colleges) serves to promote the teaching of chemistry, to network with colleagues at other schools, and to create a community among chemistry faculty in the Midwest.
The MACTLAC region includes the states of Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri. The group also welcome those who are interested in teaching chemistry at a liberal arts institution or a regional university.
Founded in 1846, Carroll University is an independent, co-educational comprehensive institution grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Carroll University is located in suburban Waukesha, 16 miles west of Milwaukee and 60 miles east of Madison. The University, though intentionally ecumenical and non-sectarian in approach, is related to the Presbyterian Church, USA.
Carroll University was created in 1846 and is located within the traditional homelands of the Ho-Chunk and Menominee Nations, as acknowledged by their creation stories. The University recognizes that the land on which we gather is territory ceded in the September 26, 1833, Treaty of Chicago and is the ancestral homelands of the Chippewa, Ottawa, and Potawatomie Indians. This land was a crossroads for many Tribal Nations and their people to access cultural resources, and many of their ancestors remain on this land.
