WebTransCAD is a web-based CAD system for collaborative design. It is based on a macro-parametric approach and it supports collaboration among multiple designers over long distances. The key feature of WebTransCAD is its ability to accommodate heterogeneous CAD systems and its capacity to support native files. Feature history in the form of a feature tree with associated parameters is also available. WebTransCAD also provides the functionality to exchange one native file to another native file. WebTransCAD currently sup-ports CATPart and CATScript of CATIA, PRT of NX, and X3D for web-based model visualization. Figure shows the architecture of WebTransCAD and its modules.
