Project mission

Strategy Towards The Following Objectives

1. To document, inventorying, safeguard, conserve and preserve cultural heritage including the development and dissemination of ‘good practices’ and innovation.

2. To promote the collaboration of cultural heritage at local, national and international levels, and the recognition of individuals, groups and communities who practice cultural heritage in various substances.

3. To work with existing organizations and educational institutions to encourage and support the transmission and dissemination of traditional skills, knowledge 03 and practices across the province and around the world.

4. To use ICH in building cultural enterprise, and encouraging the responsible use 04 of ICH traditions and practices in a variety of economic development efforts.

5. To monitor and evaluate the implementation of the innovation in an effective manner.

The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, has expressed strong support for Malaysia’s effort to nominate songket as an element of Intangible Cultural Heritage under UNESCO.
