Machabe– Biography
Geoffrey Machabe, popularly known as Machabe, is a Kenyan gospel and inspirational artist whose life journey reflects resilience, faith, and determination. Born in Nyachenge Village, Masige West Ward, Bobasi Constituency, Kisii County, Machabe is proudly of Kisii heritage.
Although born in Kisii, he was raised in Kericho at the Finlay Tea Plantation (currently known as Brown), where his mother worked to support the family. Growing up in a humble background shaped his character and instilled in him the values of hard work and perseverance.
Education and Early Talent
Machabe began his primary education at Cheptabes Primary School in Kericho, where he sat for his KCPE examinations in 2010. He later joined Bishop Mugendi Nyakegogi Secondary School for his secondary education. However, due to his exceptional volleyball talent, he was awarded a full scholarship to join Gekomoni Secondary School as a school team player. He completed his KCSE examinations there in 2014.
In pursuit of technical skills, Machabe joined Eldoret Technical College in 2015, where he pursued a Diploma in Automotive Engineering. In 2016, he furthered his education at Laikipia University, studying Diploma in Criminology and Security Studies, which he later completed at Zetech University in Nairobi due to financial challenges.
Life Challenges and Turning Point
Coming from a financially struggling family, Machabe faced significant hardships. After moving to Nairobi in search of better opportunities, he briefly stayed with a relative who later asked him to leave after only two months. With nowhere to go, he endured nearly five months living on the streets at Uhuru Park, desperately seeking assistance that never came.
Determined to survive, he searched for any available job and eventually secured employment as a watchman, earning KSh 6,000 per month while guarding a residential plot. It was during this difficult season that his musical calling became clear. Inspired by his struggles, he chose to transform his pain into purpose by sharing his story through gospel and inspirational music to uplift and encourage others facing similar hardships.
Rise to Influence
Through consistency, creativity, and resilience, Machabe began building a strong online presence across Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. His growing influence opened doors, including a life-changing encounter with Kenyan artist Stevo Simple Boy.
At a time when Stevo Simple Boy had nearly given up due to life challenges, Machabe stepped in to offer encouragement and management support despite his own limited resources. Through strategic management, belief, and hard work, Machabe played a key role in transforming him into a nationally recognized star.
Philanthropy and Mentorship
Beyond music and management, Machabe is deeply committed to community empowerment. He founded the Machabe Foundation, an initiative dedicated to supporting vulnerable youth, widows, and less fortunate members of society. Through this foundation, he visits children’s homes, supports churches, assists widows, and provides hope to young people who have lost direction in life. Even with limited resources, he remains committed to sharing what he has with the community.
Additionally, Machabe runs a music studio where he mentors and nurtures upcoming artists free of charge, helping them develop their talents and pursue professional music careers.
Vision and Mission
Machabe’s mission is to inspire hope through music, mentorship, and community service. His life story stands as a testimony that no background is too humble, and no situation is too difficult to overcome with faith, resilience, and determination.
