Biography

Dr. Mohammad Ali Choudhury was one of the most prominent and selfless professors of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. He served as Dean, Head, and registrar in the university. He is most famous for his unconditional love and dedication to the institution. He has contributed to its development till the last days of his life. He was a fatherly figure to most of his students and they remember him for his contribution in their life. He was diagnosed with cancer and died in 2018.

Dr. Choudhury was born in 1956 in Chittagong. He has completed his BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering from BUET and Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada in 1978 and 1979, respectively. He then joined the department as a lecturer. He has completed his PhD from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He has supervised over 60 students on their Masters and PhD Degree. He has Over 100 publications in reputed journals and Transactions. His area of expertise were power electronics, drives, static power converter, power factor improvement, switching converters, biomedical instrumentations.
