Our story begins during Macklin’s kindergarten orientation, when our moms were first brought together over their conspicuous calls for “Macklin” and “Declan” (Fiona’s older brother), which stood out from the crowd.  A family friendship was born.

Despite this family friendship and these adorable photos of us in our youth, don’t be fooled: it would take years before we spoke to one another in full sentences.  But thank goodness we did!

Making it through our awkward teasing phase in one piece, we decided to get serious with a move on the quintessential first-date locale, hottest-club-in-the-Hudson-Valley: the Dutchess County Fair. Nothing says “romance” like a Ferris wheel, a firm curfew, and losing phone privileges for ignoring it.

The rest is history! From one prom to the next; through college—Macklin at Haverford and Fiona at Marist—with one semester-long reunion in Berlin; to our first apartment together in New York’s Spanish Harlem; through Macklin’s three years in Durham and Fiona’s in Boston; to our reunion in Washington D.C., we’ve navigated the years together for over a decade. Along the way, we’ve traveled near and far, made countless memories, and grown individually and as a couple.

Having kept you all waiting, we’re ready to create another unforgettable memory with all of you. Your presence in our lives has helped shape us into who we are today, and we hope this weekend will be as much a “thank you” to all of you as it is a celebration of our love.

We so hope to see you in Durham!
