My cursor often becomes stuck on the pan (10.3) or the rotate (Pro) tool. No matter what I try, I'm not able to use any other cursor functions. Sometimes a full computer restart fixes this issue, but not always. No key command or escape key command fixes this issue.

It looks like this is typically caused by antivirus software (mostly Webroot from the reports we've seen). It boils down to having to check and adjust the antivirus settings to make sure that it isn't interfering with ArcGIS.

Exactly shutting down which feature? Our org uses Webroot Endpoint Protection (SecureAnywhere) - The Solution post mentions to disable the "Identity Protection" option, which we did and it seems to work. @JeffKrueger mentions something about disabling WebLink, which I dont see any feature/option for that. Do we just have to whitelist the ArcGIS path? @KoryKramer do you have a more specific resolution for what to change in Webroot?

Not sure what you mean by "big" however you can change the style of thecursor to either infinite (cross-hair), which is a line that goes fromtop to bottom and side to side on the display or cross that is a small"+". You can also set the angle of the infinite cursor if you desire, a45 will really puzzle your co-workers for a good laugh if you can edittheir env file.

Look in the Ui category of the User preferences:

pcb_cursor : If set, Allegro displays the desired cursor type.Default

 value is 'cross'.

pcb_cursor_angle: Applies only to infinite cursor (see pcb_cursor variable).

By default, infinite cross-hair is shown orthogonal. This

variable specifies angle for infinite cursor. Values are

 between 0 and 90.

My mouse cursor keeps changing to four black outward facing arrows with a circle in the centre. I don't know how I keep doing this but I can't seem to turn it off once it's on! Anyone have any idea how to switch it back to the usual one, I can't do much after it changes and have to start a new workflow all over again. Thanks.

If you simply press the space bar with the designer as the active window, this will convert your cursor to the shape you describe as long as you're holding the space bar. Here I show you 7 Simple Steps to change your mouse cursor

An instructor and myself have both noticed within the last couple days that if using Panopto for Windows and selecting the Highlight Mouse Cursor During Screen Capture option and saving in Settings, the mouse is not highlighted when using Capture PowerPoint. In fact, we don't see the mouse cursor at all.

It seems to work in Capture Main Screen however, and I can remember this working with Capture PPT in the past. We are both on version 9.0.2. Is this a bug or a change Panopto made? Anything I can do either in Panopto or PowerPoint to bring this back?

I often recommend leaving both the Capture Powerpoint and the Capture Main Screen options selected when presenting - to get the TOC from the Powerpoint and the mouse movements from the screen capture.

Also, I just did a quick test, and you can choose to record just the Powerpoint application when using Panopto Capture as the recorder, and the mouse movements will be recorded. In this case, the movements are recorded because it records Powerpoint as a video stream (not still images.) However, The "highlight the mouse cursor" option isn't available in Panopto Capture, but it may still be the way to go if the instructor wants the mouse movements to be shown but not any other application on the machine.

Thank you for the reply. I think I was remembering recording PPT slides as video for bumper graphics, and had to hide the mouse cursor in PowerPoint, which I mistakenly was thinking was the highlighted cursor being available if we chose capture PowerPoint.

I have changed cursor view, when it is on texting, it was like this (I) and blnking also, now it has like reactangular shape and black. ts usage is different, for example I cant put cursor between anything, when  click on anywhere and type , it changes letters, It doesnt put more character. Please help me. Sorr my english is not good but I hope it is clear

Windows 10 version: 1803, LibreOffice Writer version: 6.1.5.2 though the problem started before I did that update. All of the sudden Writer has these little lines with left or right arrows everywhere I move my mouse and if I do not click in exactly the right spot it will place the writing cursor in the wrong place. This only started on my desktop computer not my laptop. Sorry if I used any wrong terms, I am not the most tech savvy.

Thank you for your reply. Formatting Marks are off. I turned it on and off just to make sure but it made made no difference. For example, If I bring up a blank page and click in the middle of the page and start typing it will write in the middle of the page. Before, anywhere I clicked on a blank page it would always start typing in the upper left-hand corner. It gets very difficult when I have tables with a lot of small cells and it messes up the alignment unless I click in exactly the right place.

I see that this is an old thread but I am having a similar issue with the cursor in Archicad 25. In the Project Map window (ground floor) - I can neither select the imported image with the Arrow tool, nor with the Marquee tool. The cursor turns into a cloud cursor or if it's an arrow cursor doesn't select the image at all and thus I am unable to rescale it.

Keep in mind that since your computer's cursor is primarily an operating system "tool", some of the ways you may want your cursor to behave or appear may be treated to the OS and not Vectorworks. For example, when I present on my Mac, I use either Mousepos or Presentify to highlight the location of my cursor wherever it is on the screen no matter what application I'm showing. Since this is applied across all applications it is not a Vectorworks-centric function.

@anniemitch I don't recognize what you are describing as being a Vectorworks option. That sounds to me more like it's related to the Mac's accessibility options that Benson mentioned above. If you have tried adjust those Mac settings (assuming you're using a Mac) and it's still occurring, could you share a screen recording of it happening; that will help see what you are referring to.

Correct, which is why seeing a screen recording of the cursor changing should help determine what's going on. As described, the cursor size change doesn't sound like a Vectorworks setting to me. @E|FA do you recognize what is being described?

I intermittently see the cursor arrow enlarge temporarily if I move the mouse vigorously, eg shake it side to side. Need to observe more - might be system wide rather than only in vwx. Cursor returns to usual size after a second or less of calm mouse. Normal speed moves do not engender this effect. I attribute effect to my bargain basement Logitech mouse, and/or default MacOS mouse driver, but never tried to chase it down.

(although for some reason on the recording the mouse is not in the same exact positions as when I recorded, as you can see when I select the drawing options. Haven't done a screen recording before so maybe it did something wrong!)

have attached two images of what I am seeing on my monitor. Perhaps it is something to do with screen resolution and display settings that are not being translated to the drawing area, but are the rest of the VW space?

Also, I noticed that during your screen recording it appears that you are clicking in one location to draw a rectangle but the rectangle is actually being drawing at another location. This may indicate that you have a GPU issue... and looking at the specs of the HP Spectre x360, that machine has limited power in this regard. (It seems to only have an integrated, low power graphics unit as opposed to an actual graphics card. Note that from the Vectorworks system requirements a minimum of 2GB of dedicated VRAM is recommended even for entry level work.) I recommend keeping an eye on that and if you encounter visual oddities, bear in mind that they may be related to the computer's specs.

Also sorry, I also mentioned above but perhaps it wasn't clear - the screen recording is not showing accurately where I am clicking, and for some reason showing the cursor off to one side when I draw - this is not happening in real life which is odd. So, I think disregard the screen recording and instead to refer to is the two photos of the screen I attached?

Hmm, do you mean this in relation to the size? I have not set my cursor size to large (it is always set at the smallest size) and it is only and exclusively in VW 24 that this larger cursor is occurring, which is why I am a bit confused! I had checked those cursor settings as my very first troubleshoot, and all have remained normal throughout.

I wasn't sure if therefore it was a glitch and the way that VW 24 is dealing with my computer, or if VW24 has updated resolution settings that is making it confused about my true screen resolution. However if that was the case, I wouldn't expect it to occur on just the drawing space, but rather the whole VW window?

@anniemitch If the Windows mouse pointer settings are not what is causing the pointer size to change for you, I'm not sure what is. Please do know however there is no Vectorworks setting causing it. It's always worth asking the braintrust here, but in this case there's no Vectorworks setting for it.

Something to try, if you wish, would be to fully uninstall Vectorworks using the uninstaller in the application folder, then reinstall Vectorworks and make sure you've fully updated it too. That may help remove the issue in case Windows is somehow having a problem with your current installation of it.

Myself and one other colleague of mine had the same exact problem! I tried VW support, IT at my job, several friends different forums, everything I could think of and everything failed. Finally I fixed mine by purchasing a 4K monitor which is the same resolution as my MSI. All my other monitors are 1920x1080. When I changed my computer to match my other screens the cursor got even bigger! What made me decide to get the 4K was when I would drag the VW to the MSI, the cursor was normal size. 152ee80cbc
