Mabbingtons East Village is a little shop where almost everything is handcrafted and made from rescued, repurposed, recycled materials. It's named for our little cat Mab who was picked up off the street in Brooklyn and is now living her best little life as queen of this East Village apartment.  I've been making things at home for years, just putting them together out of scraps and pieces of whatever I find that I think looks nice. Some are completely made from scratch. Some are old things that needed some fixing up. Some are just things that I found and thought would look nicer with a little bit of extra care. All are unique and handmade using discarded materials, scraps of fabric, buttons, ribbon, tin cans, old print paper etc.  Mabbington's inventory includes all kinds of things - velvet shoulder bags, cotton satchels, catnip cat toys, lavender scrap owls, old print tin can holders, notebooks, folders, tin lid ornaments, coasters, picture frames, and teatowels.... I tried making candles using the wax from already burnt scented candles but I couldn't master it! Maybe one of you can? It's such a shame to waste... This is really what this little shop is about. I'm always trying to reuse the things we already have -  we can still have lovely things, they just don't all need to be brand new! :)
