Time to Visit Zanzibar.
Zanzibar, like mainland Tanzania, can be visited throughout the year, but many people consider the dry season (June to October) to be the best time. During this time, the weather is perfect with clear skies and sunny days, which makes it ideal for your stay. Additionally, you can take advantage of the opportunity to go on safari, hike Mount Kilimanjaro, and explore mainland Tanzania as it is the best time for these activities. The dry season also makes it easier to move around, with fewer mosquitoes and plenty of opportunities to meet people and enjoy group activities.
Weather & Climate
Zanzibar's climate is categorized as tropical monsoon (Am). Despite its location near the equator, the heat during the summer (which corresponds to the Northern Hemisphere's winter) is often cooled by strong sea breezes linked to the northeast monsoon, known in Kiswahili as "Kaskazi," particularly on the north and east coasts. The islands have warm temperatures throughout the year. The rainy season is divided into two main periods: a primary peak in March, April, and May, associated with the southwest monsoon (known locally as "Kusi" in Kiswahili), and a secondary peak in November and December. The months in between receive less rainfall, with a minimum in July.
