In May, even though the rainy season has mostly ended, the Okavango Delta is still being replenished by water from the Angolan highlands. This causes an increase in game activity as many animals seek refuge in the Delta's waters, which remain abundant throughout the dry winter months. Additionally, the higher water levels make it possible to enjoy traditional mokoro rides and high-speed motor boat excursions.

Botswana is known for its exceptional game viewing and luxurious lodges, which makes it a popular destination year-round. However, if you plan to visit in May, it's recommended to book your accommodation as early as possible to ensure you get your preferred option, as it's a popular time to visit even though it's not quite peak season yet.
