Self-Reliance program - Next Round of Classes:
Interest in Facilitating a group? Please email Todd Clausen (tjclausen@yahoo.com)
On the Church's Self Reliance Website it states the following:
"The Lord has said, It is my purpose to provide for my saints...but it must needs be done in mine own way" (Doctrine and Covenants 104:15,16). This is a promise that Heavenly Father will help take care of His children as they follow Him. Self-reliance does not mean that we can accomplish or obtain anything we want. If we are self-reliant we believe that through the power of Christ, and through our own efforts, we can work for spiritual and practical needs of life. Many people can become more self reliant. The self reliance initiative is a tool to help."
Self-Reliance groups offer practical courses with spiritual benefits. In addition to improved life skills, participants can gain in increased testimony, greater reliance upon the spirit, and are more converted to the gospel.
Four separate groups designed to help in one of following areas:
1. Emotional Resilience (10 weekly classes)
Learn healthy ways to handle life’s difficulties and challenges, understand yourself and your emotions, coping skills for anxiety and depression, ways to improve relationships, think more positively about situations and oneself and how to be a strength to others going through difficulties.
2. Personal Finances (12 weekly classes)
For those who want better control over their finances. Group members will learn how to eliminate debt, protect against financial hardship, and invest in the future. Create a financial plan and follow a budget.
3. Starting and Growing My Business (12 weekly classes)
Learn to make wise business decisions. Members learn key business skills such as identifying customer needs, finding customers, and keeping good business records.
4. Find a Better Job (12 weekly classes)
Group members will learn to identify opportunities, network, present themselves professionally, and prepare for job interviews. They will also set goals for contacts and interviews. Questions: Please email Todd Clausen (tjclausen@yahoo.com)
