Hamid Ullah

Assitant Professor

I earned my Ph.D degree from the Department of Physics, University of Ulsan, Republic of Korea. I joined the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) as a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2025. I am a highly accomplished physicist specializing in computational Physics and materials science, with a strong focus on two-dimensional (2D) materials, perovskites, and their applications in renewable energy, spintronics, and optoelectronics. My research integrates theoretical and computational methods to explore the electronic, magnetic, optical, and thermoelectric properties of advanced materials.

I am proficient in Density functional theory and classical-based software (VASP, WIEN2k, Quantum ESPRESSO, CP2K, Gromacs, RASPA) to model electronic structures. In addition, I am working in collaboration with international groups to validate theoretical predictions with experimental data. Moreover, I have authored 100+ peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals. I have supervised 3 Ph.D. and more than 50 M.S./M.Phil. students, fostering research in computational materials science, which shows my good leadership skills. Hence, my research work bridges theory and application, advancing materials for sustainable technologies. My expertise in DFT /Classical and defect physics proves me as a leader in the design of next-generation functional materials.
