Welcome!
I'm delighted you're signed up to take my Statistics course! I'm always excited to work with engaged, hard-working students who are willing to be flexible and open-minded in order to be successful in a rigorous course like Math 134!
My Teaching Philosophy
I love Mr Epstein's quote; I can really relate to the Loving their Subject aspect!
I LOVE MATH!!!
...and I love having the opportunity to spark an interest in what I love in others.
I know a lot of people have anxiety about math. You need to know that I am IN YOUR CORNER! I WANT you to succeed! Now, don’t get me wrong, that does NOT mean that I am an EASY instructor! You will WORK HARD for your grade but I am THERE FOR YOU!!
My goal as your instructor is to do my best to present the material in such a way that you will understand, feel more comfortable, become successful, and eventually have more confidence when it comes to math and logical reasoning.
My goal for you as my student is that you embrace the learning experience both individually and as part of a community of diverse learners…and just as I commit to be there for you, that you’ll be supportive of each other in the learning experience.

Learning Pact
What you can expect of me:
I will be actively present in your learning experience.
I will respond to e-mails within 24 hours.
I will provide actionable feedback on assignments (where less than a perfect grade has been given) within 48 hours.
I will create a positive and supportive environment where you will feel safe to experiment and make mistakes.
I understand you are busy and may have competing priorities. When needed, I will be flexible to support your successful completion of this course.
What I expect of you:
You will log into our course each week no later than Monday evening to evaluate the work and due dates in the current module.
Be mindful of notifications to your student e-mail, especially weekly Announcements as these contain important, time-sensitive information for your course!
Each week you will invest about 15+ hours of time on the coursework and assignments.
You will submit all assignments on time. If you identify a concern with meeting a due date, you will contact me directly to discuss your options.
If necessary, and time allows, you will apply my feedback to assignments and resubmit to earn additional credit.
You will challenge yourself to try new things, keep an open mind, and recognize that mistakes are a vital part of the learning process.
You will be thoughtful in your interactions with instructor and peers while taking extra care to respect diverse perspectives.
ONLINE Math 135-9398
This one unit lab is CRITICAL to your success in the course. We will cover Math 134’s technology component (Excel, TI-84, various online statistical calculators, etc) in the Math 135 section. Do not enroll in any other professor’s Math 135 as it will focus on that instructor’s course and not ours.
Because this is a support class I do like to offer a weekly Q&A via Zoom where you can check in with any questions prior to each week's assignment being due. That day/time will be decided upon by the end of the first week of the term.

But enough from me . . . below are some words of wisdom from some past students.
Course Goals
Course Learning Outcomes:
