In my work, I explore the tension between individuality and anonymity — between the inner self and the collective silence that shapes us.
Each figure, stripped of its facial identity, becomes a mirror for the observer. The absence of a face does not erase presence; it amplifies it. It is through this void that the viewer confronts their own reflection — not what they are, but what remains unseen.
The mosaic backgrounds represent fragments of time, memory, and emotion — pieces of human experience attempting to reconnect. Their vibrant geometry contrasts with the quiet figures, suggesting that identity is not lost but refracted through the many layers of existence.
Using traditional impasto and digital painting techniques, I work with dense textures and tactile color to make the surface breathe — as if each stroke carried both silence and vibration. The figures emerge from the painting not as portraits, but as presences: human, yet universal; silent, yet resonant.
M.Arcos is not about erasing identity — it’s about rediscovering it in the spaces between light, matter, and memory.
