The mission of the Scouts is to promote in young people the ethical and moral virtues that will enhance their development into leaders, friends, environmental champions, and community members of the highest quality.Â
We aim to do this by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Open to boys and girls ages 11-17, Troop 48 is an inclusive, family-oriented, outdoor adventure and community service club with a focus on self-care, self-reliance, and teamwork. Troop 48 meets weekly on Thursdays 7-8:15pm at Lynnfield Centre Congregational Church and plans and participates in monthly outdoor or community service activites.
Troop 48 was first chartered by the Boy Scouts of America in 1956 and has since been continuously and generously supported by the Lynnfield Centre Congregational Church. Today, Troop 48 is part of the Spirit of Adventure Council, Great Eastern District.
During the summer of 2023, Troop 48 spent a week in Connecticut camping and earning merit badges. Troop 48 scouts have also recently participated in outdoor adventures in New York, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Maine.
In 2022, two scouts from Troop 48 earned the rank of Eagle Scout, joining the other 134 scouts of Troop 48 that achieved this esteemed rank. Some of those scouts now have families and their children are participating in scouting in Lynnfield. Lynnfield also has a Cub Scout pack for boys and girls ages 5-10.
