Throughout my four years in undergraduate, I took various Global Learning courses that inspired my interest in Health Humanities and Global Perspectives. Of these classes, I would like to highlight four in specific that made the largest impact: Exploring Art, Intercultural Communication, If Disney Were a Hospital, and Intro to Sociology.
ARH 2000 Exploring Art
This course expanded my understanding of how art relfects cultural values, history, and identity across societies. By analyzing artword from different regions and time periods, I developed an appreication for how life imitates art, or how art imitates life.
COM 3461 Intercultural Communications
This course taught me how culture influences the way people communicate and percieve others. It strengthened my ability to engage respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and navigate social interactions within any space.
IDH 3034 Honors Seminar V (If Disney Were a Hospital)
In this course, we explored what healthcare would look like if it were modeled as a Disney-like system. We focused on factors that affect healthcare such as accesibilty, healthcare satisfaction, patient experience, and efficiency. This classs challenged me to think creatively about how environment, service, and attention to detail and influence patient care and healthcare outcomes.
SYG 2000 Intro Sociology
This course gave me insight on how social structures, cultural norms, and inequalities shape human behavior and experiences.
