As 2023 comes to a close, I decided to start a book blog of sorts...more for personal records, but also in case anyone is looking for a good book to read. Reading is still the best way to develop vocabulary and comprehension skills!
Daisy Jones and the Six (Taylor Jenkins Reid) -- Loved this one! I am a bit obsessed with Stevie Nicks and knew I had to read this when I found out it was based somewhat on the story of Fleetwood Mac.
The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo (Taylor Jenkins Reid) ...I finished this in mid-December...enjoyable read...some suspense...did not enjoy it as much as "Daisy Jones and the Six."
Sometimes I Lie (Alice Feeney)...also a December 2023 read. This was the story of a woman who is in a coma after an accident, is aware of what is going on but unable to communicate with the people in her room. I would give it 3/5 stars -- some clever twists, but a little far-fetched.
The Secret History (Donna Tartt) - I read this book when it was released in 1992...I remember loving the book so I wanted to reread it. Let's just say that I forgot everything about it but was just as impressed by it this time. I think I was more shocked by the plot and more amazed at all the allusions in 2023. Really, a brilliant tale...
