Annual MLK Jr Walk

Each year, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Lynchburg Community Council, the City of Lynchburg, the Lynchburg Area Youth Sports Initiative, the NAACP Lynchburg Virginia Branch, and local partners hold a Annual MLK Jr. Unity Walk to commemorate Dr. King's vision of non-violent protests. 

The walk usually begins and ends at 5th and Federal Streets. There are guest speakers, tables that bring attention to resources in the city, followed by a walk to the Old City Cemetery with activity stations, a youth history hunt with door prizes, and giveaways along the walks route.

The event is free and open to the community. Following the walk, a raffle for history hunt participants will include prizes such as bikes, iPads, and more.
