Hénon-Heiles equations
dx/dt = z
dy/dt = w
dz/dt = -x + 2.0 x y
dw/dt = -y - x2 + y2
The step size of the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method: 0.001
Lyapunov exponents (log with base-e): 0.0552, 0.0009, -0.0008, -0.0553
Lyapunov dimension: 4.0
The Hénon-Heiles equations is a conserved system in which the energy is conserved, so the sum of the Lyapunov exponents is zero. The values of the second and third Lyapunov exponents are theoretically zero. This is because they correspond to the normal direction of the energy manifold and the direction of flow.
