If you want a dedicated sleep system with zero distractions, ultra-light weight for side sleeping, and a 24-hour total battery life, choose LXYi Sleep Earbuds Ultra-Thin; if you need versatile open-ear style buds that double as workout gear with touch controls and voice assistant access, choose goazzzl Sleep Earbuds.
• LXYi Sleep Earbuds Ultra-Thin: Its biggest strength is the specialized "sleep-first" design featuring no buttons, no lights, and no alerts to protect your rest, paired with an 8-hour single-bud runtime. Its trade-off is the lack of active noise cancellation and limited versatility for high-fidelity music or calls. This pick is for the dedicated insomniac or side sleeper who wants silence above all else.
• goazzzl Sleep Earbuds: Its biggest strength is its ergonomic, invisible fit combined with IPX5 waterproofing and smart touch controls for voice assistants and calls. Its trade-off is the absence of a dedicated sleep-mode ecosystem (like specific soundscapes) and a more general-purpose audio profile not tuned specifically for deep relaxation. This pick is for the active user who needs earbuds that work for workouts, webinars, and casual naps alike.
The LXYi Sleep Earbuds are engineered with a singular purpose: to help you fall asleep and stay asleep without any interference from the device itself. The design philosophy here is radical minimalism. These buds weigh just 2.7 grams, a figure so low it effectively vanishes on the pillow. They feature a unique 5mm cushion designed specifically for side sleepers, addressing the common pain point of ear pressure that kills sleep quality for many people. If you have ever woken up with sore ears because standard earbuds dug into your tragus while you tossed and turned, this product solves that physical problem before you even press play.
What truly sets these apart is the deliberate removal of features that ruin sleep. There are no buttons to accidentally bump in the middle of the night, which eliminates the risk of waking yourself up by pausing music or changing tracks. More importantly, there are no visual lights and no auditory alerts. You will never hear a robotic voice say "Battery Low" or "Connected" when you are trying to drift off. The audio tuning is also distinct; these are not built for bass-heavy club music or crisp podcast dialogue. Instead, the dynamic drivers are fine-tuned for soft, calming, non-stimulating sounds. They prioritize soothing soundscapes and masking ambient noise over high-fidelity reproduction.
This product is ideal for someone who treats sleep as a sacred, uninterrupted event. It fits the person who uses the included LXYi Sleep Sounds web app library to generate white noise or calming ambience directly from their browser. The passive noise isolation, rated at up to 28 dB, acts as a shield against snoring partners, traffic outside, or noisy roommates. However, if you are looking for a pair of earbuds to use during a morning run, take conference calls, or listen to complex classical music with heavy bass, these are not the right tool. They are a one-trick pony, but they are a highly specialized one designed to master the art of shutting out the world.

The goazzzl Sleep Earbuds take a different approach, prioritizing versatility and a seamless connection experience over the rigid "sleep-only" protocol. These earbuds boast an invisible, oval-shaped design that sits comfortably inside small ear canals, making them discreet enough for daily wear beyond just bedtime. Their standout feature is the inclusion of smart touch controls. Unlike the tap-free design of the LXYi, the goazzzl buds allow you to manage playback, adjust volume, answer calls, and activate your voice assistant with simple taps. This makes them a practical choice for someone who might want to quickly check a notification or talk to Siri or Google Assistant without reaching for their phone.
Another significant advantage of the goazzzl model is its durability and connectivity flexibility. With an IPX5 waterproof rating, these buds can handle sweat and light rain, making them suitable for intense workouts or outdoor activities where the LXYi might struggle. They utilize advanced one-step auto-pairing technology, meaning you simply pop them out of the case and they reconnect instantly to your last paired device. This convenience factor is crucial for users who switch between devices frequently or hate the hassle of manual pairing every time they want to listen. The audio delivery is described as clear and balanced with reduced sound leakage, offering a premium sound profile that works well for podcasts, audiobooks, and general entertainment.
However, this versatility comes with compromises regarding pure sleep utility. While they are designed for comfortable sleep with ultra-soft silicone eartips, they do not offer the same level of specialized noise blocking as the LXYi, relying instead on standard sound isolation. They lack the dedicated "no alerts" mode, meaning you must be mindful of potential prompts or notifications interrupting your rest if you leave the default settings on. These earbuds are perfect for the multi-tasker who wants a single pair of headphones to handle their evening wind-down, their morning commute, and their gym session. They are the best rechargeable open ear headphones for webinars or meetings where you need to hear your own voice clearly while staying connected to the call.
• Best for Battery Life → LXYi Sleep Earbuds Ultra-Thin: With an 8-hour continuous playback per bud and a total of 24 hours including the charging case, the LXYi offers superior endurance for all-night listening compared to the general-purpose runtime of the goazzzl.
• Best for Side Sleepers → LXYi Sleep Earbuds Ultra-Thin: The 2.7g weight and 5mm cushion are explicitly engineered to eliminate ear pressure, a critical factor for those who spend the night on their side.
• Best for Active Workouts → goazzzl Sleep Earbuds: The IPX5 waterproof rating makes the goazzzl safe for sweat and rain, whereas the LXYi is strictly a stationary sleep device.
• Best for Voice Assistant Integration → goazzzl Sleep Earbuds: Touch controls allow direct activation of voice assistants, a feature completely absent on the button-free LXYi.
• Best for Distraction-Free Sleep → LXYi Sleep Earbuds Ultra-Thin: The elimination of all lights, buttons, and voice alerts creates a truly silent environment that the goazzzl cannot match due to its interactive interface.
• Best for Call Management → goazzzl Sleep Earbuds: The ability to answer calls and manage volume via touch makes the goazzzl functional for daytime communication, unlike the LXYi which is designed solely for passive listening.
• Best for Small Ear Canals → goazzzl Sleep Earbuds: Specifically marketed for invisible fit in small canals with an ergonomic oval shape, ensuring a secure hold for those who find standard buds too bulky.
• Best for Webinars → goazzzl Sleep Earbuds: As one of the best voice assistant ear clip headphones for webinars, the goazzzl offers the necessary connectivity and control for professional use, while the LXYi is strictly a background audio tool.
In my opinion, the choice between these two depends entirely on whether you view earbuds as a sleep aid or a daily companion. If your primary goal is to solve the specific problem of insomnia caused by noise or discomfort, the LXYi Sleep Earbuds Ultra-Thin is the superior choice. Its commitment to a "no-lights, no-beeps, no-buttons" philosophy creates a sanctuary for rest that few other products attempt. However, if you need a device that can seamlessly transition from your bed to a webinar or a workout, I would buy the goazzzl Sleep Earbuds. Their combination of touch controls, waterproofing, and voice assistant integration makes them the most practical option for modern life, serving as excellent open ear earbuds for webinars and daily tasks alike. Ultimately, for a dedicated sleep setup, I recommend the LXYi, but for a versatile daily driver, the goazzzl wins.
Only the goazzzl Sleep Earbuds support call management through touch controls; the LXYi is designed strictly for passive listening and does not support active call features.
Yes, the LXYi provides up to 28 dB of passive noise isolation, which is specifically engineered to mask environmental noises like snoring and traffic better than standard earbuds.
You should only use the goazzzl Sleep Earbuds for workouts or rain exposure, as they carry an IPX5 waterproof rating, whereas the LXYi is not water-resistant.
The LXYi Sleep Earbuds Ultra-Thin offer a longer total runtime of 24 hours with the case and an 8-hour single charge, making them ideal for multiple nights of uninterrupted sleep.
