Venue
The conference takes place at the "Sala Multiuso 3" on the 4th floor of the I&D building of FCSH - the Faculty for Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Our institute is located on the same floor and you can find our secretary in Room 4.02. IFILNOVA Institute of Philosophy, Universidade Nova de Lisboa / New University of Lisbon, Avenida da Berna 26, 1050-099 Lisbon.
Accommodation
We recommend staying near the faculty around the area between metro station Campo Pequeno (yellow line), the Gulbenkian Museum near metro station São Sebastião (blue line), and metro station Saldanha (red line), because other popular locations and the city center are outside walking distance. The cheapest option is AirBnB, which costs around 30 EUR per night. There are AirBnB places nearby. There are also many hotels nearby the faculty such as:
These hotels have increased their prices recently, however, so it may be worth to shop around for other options and compare offers. There are cheaper hostels in the centre, but then you probably need to take a taxi to and from the venue.
Arriving by Plane
Lisbon Airport Portela (LIS) is located near the center of the city, it takes about 20 minutes by taxi and 30 minutes by bus to get into downtown Lisbon. The easiest way to get to a hotel near the conference venue at the Faculty for Social Sciences and Humanity (Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas) of the New University of Lisbon / Universidade Nova de Lisboa or a hotel in the center is to take a taxi just outside the main exit from the airport - there is a taxi queue, fare costs around 10 Euro. Please make sure that the taxi driver uses a visible taxometer and switches it on, or otherwise the driver might ask for a much higher amount.
A cheaper but also more complicated to get to the vicinity of the faculty is to take the Red Line of the Metro until São Sebastião (the last station) and walk from there. The Metro station is to the right when you exit the airport baggage area into the main hallway; however, there are often long queues in front of the ticket vending machines downstairs. There are also regular buses to the center and more expensive Airport Shuttlebuses to Campo Pequeno near the faculty, and to the center downtown. We generally recommend taking a taxi.
Getting Around
Both the Yellow and the Blue Metro line go from the conference venue to the center. The Yellow Station is Campo Pequeno and the Blue line station is São Sebastião or Praça de Espanha, where the latter appears nearer but the former is more convenient. You may buy tickets at ticket vending machines in any Metro station and upload 5 or 10 Euro for multiple trips if you plan to visit the center or other places of interest. Don't crease the tickets and keep the receipt.
