I am an assistant professor in the Department of Data Science at the City University of Hong Kong. Previously, I was a postdoctoral fellow at CREST/ENSAE Paris, hosted by Prof. Arnak S. Dalalyan. I received my Ph.D. in Statistics at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Prof. Stanislav Volgushev and Prof. Murat A. Erdogdu. Before that, I obtained an MS degree in Statistics at the University of Washington and a BSc in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at Shandong University.
My research lies in the confluence of machine learning, optimization, and statistics. I am broadly interested in developing theoretical guarantees that align closely with practical experience in these fields. My current research focuses on sampling algorithms and generative models.
Recruiting: I am actively seeking Ph.D. students and research assistants who either (1) have a strong foundation in analysis and probability with a passion for theoretical research, or (2) possess strong coding skills and an interest in applied research.
If you are interested in working with me, please feel free to get in touch. When reaching out, kindly include the following:
