How to Get Involved

Luton Symphony Orchestra is a valuable part of the local community. For playing members, it's a way to make high-quality music with friends every week during the rehearsal period. For our audience, it's live orchestral music performed in easily-accessible local venues, by talented local musicians. We believe that keeping music alive in our community is vital. Indeed, in between Luton Symphony Orchestra concerts, many members also play in the Luton Concert Orchestra (see Links).

But, of course, it's not cheap to run a community orchestra like Luton Symphony Orchestra, and the days of generous annual grants from local authorities and Arts Council England are unfortunately long gone.

However, as we are here for the benefit of the community, we try to keep ticket costs and subscriptions reasonable and they can only cover a proportion of the cost of putting on a concert.

A typical concert involves the following:

How Can You Help?

Publicity

There is no better advertising than word of mouth. If you enjoy what we do, please tell your friends! Why not treat them to a ticket to our next concert? Remember, if you give us your email address we can communicate directly with you and save on postage.

Donations

We are always grateful to receive additional sums as one-off donations and, as we are a registered charity, we can recover the tax element of those paid by UK taxpayers through the Gift Aid scheme. We are currently investigating the development of a Friends of Luton Symphony Orchestra scheme to take effect next season which will give members a series of benefits in return for a fixed annual donation.

Of course, donations don't have to be cash and could include giving an item for the raffle or helping to distribute our brochures and flyers.

Sponsorship

For local businesses, becoming a sponsor is a great way of supporting the orchestra. Sponsors will be acknowledged on all our publicity material. There are many ways to do this:
