Luondua Boreal Field Station
Community - Conservation - Climate Change
Welcome
The Boreal Ecosystem Field Station has been operating since 2012. It is located to the north of Arvidsjaur (ca 90km to the south of Arctic Circle), in proximity to the field sites in managed forests near Arvidsjaur and Reivo Nature Reserve, which is the largest pristine boreal forest in inland Sweden. Luondua is nestled amidst lakes, wetlands and wooded areas.
The main functions of the field station are to conduct research on boreal ecosystems, with a focus on the ecology, evolution and conservation of boreal species. Luondua also supports projects that foster the human-nature connection through art and expression.
