fleece skirting at Wile Carding mill

To help our Association promote the wonders of wool, come and share our experience of fleece skirting and tossing Saturday July 6, 1-4 pm.

We will be preparing Lunenburg County sheep fleeces for processing at a mill by carefully pulling out any matted and dirty bits, leaves and other vegetable matter.

Look for us beside the lambs from Aspen Grove Farm.

OUR GOAL

40 fleeces by October 15 2019

The Lunenburg County Fibre Trail Association is looking for about 40 donated fleeces (300 pounds) for our 2019 pilot project, to create a limited run of 100% Lunenburg County-grown yarn and webbing (processed wool that needle felters and spinners use).

Our pilot project will help promote Lunenburg County fibre arts and fibre production by making county-grown wool available to spinners, weavers, rug hookers, educators, yarn/wool kit shops, and museums in the county. The wool will be available to society members at cost of processing, for resale in their businesses.
