In the 2019-2020 school year, we took our first steps with this project. In the first half of the year, we prioritized researching and brainstorming how we would complete this project. We formulated various different possibilities for how to mathematically model the pod's trajectory through pure mathematics. This concerned primarily working in only two dimensions with flat ground and unvarying environmental conditions. We made a successful, simple model for the pod's trajectory and became Finalists for NASA Hunch 2020.

In the summer of 2020, we joined the NASA Hunch Virtual Internship Program to continue our work. This is where we made much progress on our mathematical modeling. Within 12 weeks, we transitioned from a simple, two-dimensional pod trajectory model to a three-dimensional model able to simulate varying terrain conditions, air resistance, quaternion pod spin, and rolling to a stop. We also began researching materials and thermodynamics so we could model them in our later months.

In the fall of 2020, we took giant leaps in regards to the development of our project. During this time, we worked on making our final steps to a usable, functional product. This included translating the math into executable scripts in MATLAB R2020a and revising nearly every element of our calculations and general mathematical framework. Additionally, we began focusing on developing supply pod designs and unity animations in addition to documenting and writing papers regarding our work.

SPRING 2021
Now, in the spring of 2021, we are focusing on the final integrations, testing, and polishes of each aspect of our project. The mathematical simulation has undergone immense overhauls and tests in order to determine its accuracy and we are now working on integrating the Unity environment with our MATLAB simulation. Our supply pod design is reaching its final iterations and we're working to come to a conclusion on the survivability of supply pods as a resource delivery mechanism.
