Millions of kids and teenagers are bullied every day, and it's important that we recognise the detrimental effect that can have on their mental health. At the Luminym movement, we believe bullies should receive harsh punishments. Currently, most bullies get away with it because schools do not deal with them effectivley enough. 

A lot of schools in UK don't even bother to look at their bullying policy! We will make it mandatory for all schools to follow one. 

GCSEs reward the naturally intelligent and academic. It punishes the teenagers who are more hands-on learners, and, most of all, GCSEs teach very little useful, real world skills! Instead of algebra and atoms, they should be taught skills. Not sat in a classroom for an hour listening to a lecture about Shakespeare. GCSEs are simply a test of who can cram as much outdated info into their brain as possible and then write it down. It needs to change!

(excludes sickness, students should have 24 hours off if they have been sick regardless)Parents should be allowed to take their children out of school for 3 weeks per school year, for holidays, weddings etc without the worry of a fine. Schools punish bad attendance, simply because it looks bad on their little report card.

Attendance officers often do unnanounced home visits when a child has (often) more than 2 days off, to ensure the pupil is 'actually sick.' Attendance officers often use this as an opportunity to exploit children who they deem 'well enough' and may force them into school. We plan to stop this. If schools have a safeguarding concer, these should be reported to authorities, rather than internally.

Need I say more? The bill aims to 'protect kids' but it doesn't. It restricts home education, probably the best available alternative to secondary, gives councils more power and school smartphone restrictions. IT IS NOT PROTECTING ANYONE!
