LUMINITE is an exhibition presented by the 23 graduating International Media and Entertainment Management students on 2023, May 23-25. Luminite was born by combining two words: Lumos and Ignite. Lumos (n.), a Latin word, itself has a meaning of a light or lamp. While in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, lumos is a spell to create a beam of light at the tip of one’s wand. On the other hand, ignite (v.) means start to cause a burn [Oxford Dictionary]. Thus the word Luminite was finally born as a motivation for the students to ignite their own light and to shine brighter in the future. Luminite then becomes the message to each other to grab our dream with our own hands after graduation.
Luminite adopted the retro-futuristic theme, inspired by the light that describes our potential and future dreams. Retro futuristic also has the elements of glitch, which fits our department: media and entertainment management, cathode-ray tube (CRT), and retro. During the exhibition, eight teams will present their project result; five research teams and three production teams.
