## 1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Lumi app ("App", "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

## 2. Description of Service
Lumi is a personal finance tracking application that allows users to:
- Manually log income and expense transactions
- Set and monitor category budgets and an overall monthly spending limit
- Create and track savings goals
- Configure recurring expense reminders
- Receive AI-powered spending insights and coaching via Google Gemini
- Detect recurring subscription patterns from logged transactions
Lumi is a **manual-entry** budgeting tool. It does not connect to any bank, financial institution, or payment provider. All financial data you see in the App is data you have entered yourself.

## 3. Eligibility
You must be at least **13 years old** to use Lumi. By using the App you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

## 4. Account & Data
Lumi does not require account registration. All data is stored locally on your device. You are solely responsible for:
- The accuracy of the financial data you enter
- Maintaining a backup of your data (e.g. via iCloud or device backup)
- Any consequences arising from data loss due to device failure, app deletion, or OS updates
We do not operate servers that store your personal financial data. Deleting the App will permanently delete all your data.

## 5. Premium Subscriptions
### 5.1 Plans
Lumi offers the following optional premium subscription plans:

Exact pricing is displayed in the App at the time of purchase and may vary by region.
### 5.2 Free Trial
The Yearly plan includes a **3-day free trial** for new subscribers. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and the annual fee will be charged to your Apple ID account.
### 5.3 Billing & Renewal
- Subscriptions are billed through your **Apple ID** via the Apple App Store.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- We do not process payments directly and do not have access to your payment information.
### 5.4 Cancellation
To cancel your subscription:
1. Open **Settings** on your iPhone or iPad
2. Tap your **Apple ID** at the top
3. Tap **Subscriptions**
4. Select **Lumi** and tap **Cancel Subscription**
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to premium features until the period expires.
### 5.5 Refunds
All refund requests are handled by Apple. We do not issue refunds directly. To request a refund, visit [reportaproblem.apple.com](https://reportaproblem.apple.com).
### 5.6 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription prices. You will be notified of price changes before they take effect and will have the opportunity to cancel before the new price applies.

## 6. Free vs Premium Features
Lumi offers a free tier with core budgeting features. Premium features (AI Budget Coach, advanced analytics, unlimited goals, and others) require an active subscription. We reserve the right to change which features are included in the free or premium tiers at any time, with reasonable notice.

## 7. AI Features
Lumi includes AI-powered features powered by **Google Gemini API**.
- AI features send anonymised, aggregated summaries of your spending data (totals by category, budget limits) to Google's servers to generate insights.
- AI responses are generated by a third-party model and are provided **for informational purposes only**. They do not constitute financial advice.
- You should not make significant financial decisions based solely on AI-generated insights.
- We are not liable for any decisions made based on AI-generated content.
- AI features require an internet connection. They are not available offline.

## 8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Lumi to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App
- Interfere with or disrupt the App or its services
- Use the App for any commercial purpose without our written consent
- Impersonate any person or entity

## 9. Intellectual Property
All content, design, code, graphics, logos, and trademarks in the App are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App without our prior written consent.

## 11. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Any errors or defects will be corrected
- The App or its servers are free of viruses or harmful components
- AI-generated insights are accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific situation

## 12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses
- Damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the App
- Any financial decisions made based on data or insights provided by the App
- Data loss resulting from device failure, App deletion, or OS updates
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM.

## 13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of a third party

Lumi is a personal budgeting tool, not a financial advisory service.
- Nothing in the App constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
- AI-generated insights are informational only and not tailored to your complete financial situation.
- Always consult a qualified financial professional before making significant financial decisions.
- We are not responsible for any financial outcomes resulting from your use of the App.

## 15. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. Deleting the App cancels your licence but does not automatically cancel your subscription (see Section 5.4).

## 16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If resolution cannot be reached, disputes may be submitted to binding arbitration or the courts of competent jurisdiction.

## 17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate the date of the latest revision at the top of this document. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice or by updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
