I am a Lecturer Above the Bar (Assistant Professor) in Environmental Economics at the University of Galway and Programme Director for the MSc Global Environmental Economics.
My research interests lie in environmental-economic accoutning, the economics of sustainable development and regional development.
Dr Luke McGrath is an environmental economist working on sustainable development, environmental-economic accounting, and regional development.
His research has been published in Ecological Economics, the Journal of Environmental Management, the Review of Income & Wealth, and the European Review of Economic History.
Luke is a former Irish Research Council scholar and recipient of the Labhrás Ó Nualláin Prize and the title of University Scholar from the University of Galway. He was also a finalist for the Miriam Hederman O'Brien Prize, awarded by the Foundation for Fiscal Studies.
Before joining academia, Luke worked for over five years as an economist in the Irish civil and public service, with the Irish Government Economic Evaluation Service (IGEES) and the Western Development Commission (WDC).
