My name is Lukas English and I am a high school senior at St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin, Texas. I love making music, playing sports, especially soccer, and traveling with family and friends, whether in the US or abroad. A couple of my favorite musicians are Frederic Chopin and Thelonious Monk, notable for their flowing melodies and creative compositions.
I spent my sophomore year in Osaka, Japan, during which this photo was taken.
I've been studying the piano for 12 years at the Orpheus Academy of Music in Austin, Texas. Furthermore, I was a member of the Jazz Band at St. Stephen's Episcopal School for 3 years, where I played both the piano and the trumpet. I've also begun learning how to play the drums recently, although only at a beginner level. Through these experiences, I've grown to love classical and jazz music most of all, and I enjoy playing both styles regularly, along with more contemporary and "popular" genres.
This photo is from my first piano concert in 2011, when I was 7 years old.
I am comfortable playing either solo or with other musicians, as I have experience in both situations. As such, I would be more than happy to play background or accompaniment music at events and ceremonies, either alone or with others. I would also be thrilled to be a beginner level teacher for aspiring young pianists, as I am excited to pass on my enthusiasm for the beauty of music!
