To mark the opening of the exhibition One Movement, at GJ Gallery, in Lisbon, the artist presented a live performance that offered the audience a direct encounter with the essence of his practice. In a powerful gesture-driven act, a large-format sheet of paper (340 x 150 cm) became the stage for a spontaneous composition, created using the same technique that defines the series: a rubber spatula and multiple layers of acrylic paint in varied chromatic intensities.
The performance emphasized the immediacy of the gesture—a stroke without figurative intent, born from the tension between control and freedom. As color met surface, the audience observed the dynamic interplay between body and material. The large scale of the work amplified the tactile and visual impact of each mark, revealing the unique behavior of the paint as it responded to the texture and absorbency of the paper.
Far from a mere demonstration, the act served as an invitation. By bringing the creation process into the public space, the artist sought to dissolve the boundary between artwork and viewer, encouraging a shared experience rooted in presence, movement, and materiality.
