Luis Demetrio Miranda Gutiérrez received his B.A. degree from the School of Chemistry at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMex) in 1994. He completed his doctoral studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2000 under the supervision of Dr. Raymundo Cruz-Almanza. Following a postdoctoral appointment with Professor Samir Z. Zard at the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles, CNRS, in Gif-sur-Yvette, France, he joined the Instituto de Química, UNAM, as a faculty member in 2001.
