Luis Demetrio Miranda Gutiérrez obtained a B. A. degree from Chemistry School of the University Autonomous of Mexico State (UAEMex) in 1994, and completed his doctoral dissertation in 2000 under the supervision of Dr. Raymundo Cruz-Almanza, at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). After a postdoctoral appointment with Professor Samir Z. Zard at the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles (CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette), he joined the faculty at the Instituto de Química UNAM, in 2001, where currently is the director.
