Musician graduated with top marks in classical piano, jazz piano and specialized in teaching. He studied at the Conservatory of Parma, the Music Institute of Reggio Emilia, the University of Bologna, the Music Academy of Bydgoszcz (Poland). He has played on important stages in the European Union and the United States of America. He is active as a composer, musician for musicals, arranger, jazz pianist and classical pianist. He has published two books and several recordings.
Education
He began his musical studies at a very young age with Giuseppe La Marca and Michele Petitto. In 2004, after obtaining his scientific high school diploma, he graduated with top marks and honors. From 2000 to 2006 he attended the summer courses of the Masters Ennio Pastorino and An Li Pang, both students of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. In 2005 he attended the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (Poland) where he studied piano with maestro Jerzy Godziszewski and Wiesława Ronowska, chamber music with Paweł Radziński. His musical education continued in 2007 with the two-year specialization course in interpretation at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “A. Peri” in Reggio Emilia under the guidance of Pastorino himself and passing the final exam with top marks and honors.
In 2009 he obtained the qualification to teach music at the SSIS of the University of Bologna. In 2012 he obtained the qualification as a piano teacher at the Parma Conservatory and in 2022 he completed his training with the Diploma in jazz piano obtained at the Parma Conservatory under the guidance of Alberto Tacchini. He currently studies with Manuele Montesanti.
Composer and arranger
In 2008 he began composing by writing the stage music for the show “Ulisse” by the theater company “Fantateatro” of Bologna. His most important record releases are “Sintonie” (2020, Records DK) and “Right Lines” (2024, Records DK). These compositions were awarded by the Associazione Italia Jazz club. Luigi carries out an intense concert activity in both jazz and classical fields, in addition to composing and making arrangements for the theater, composing original pieces for his formation “Luigi Maria Maesano Trio” and making arrangements for the Compagnia delle Mo.Re, a prestigious musical company in Modena for which he has worked as a musician since 2019.
Since 2020 he has offered arranger services to customers from all over the world through the Fiverr platform where he has a large number of positive reviews.
Concert activity
In the summers of 2011 and 2012 he participated as an artistic staff at the Songs of Hope summer music camp in Saint Paul and Minneapolis MN, U.S.A.
He has played in important cultural and concert venues such as the Teatro dell’Antoniano in Bologna for the Bologna Festival, the Teatro Asioli in Correggio, the Sala del Tricolore in Reggio Emilia, the Rotary Club of Reggio Emilia, the Famiglia Artistica Reggiana, the Teatro De Andrà in Casalgrande, the Teatro Michelangelo in Modena, the jazz club Prulcek in Ljubljana, "La Corte dei Miracoli" in Milan.
He has played in many Italian cities, including Reggio Emilia, Modena, Casalgrande, Venice, Turin, Florence, Rome, Bolzano, Macerata, Caltanissetta, Palermo, Agrigento, Roccagiovine, Bevagna, Passignano sul Trasimeno, Piove di Sacco and abroad in Ljubljana (Slovenia), Riga, Kuldiga (Latvia), Innsbruck (Austria), Bydgoszcz, Lubostron and in the prestigious Chopin residence of Szafarnia (Poland) and in Munich (Germany).
As a pianist and vice artistic director of the choir of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia from 2010 to 2024 he participated in concerts on a national and international scale; in autumn 2012 he participated in the creation of Carmina Burana for the Italian University Choirs held at the Auditorium della Conciliazione in Rome playing under the direction of Karl Martin. In 2018 he participated in the production of Verdi's Requiem in New York in collaboration with the Barnard College of Columbia University.
He performed at the Ariston Theater in San Remo during the San Remo Rock event in 2018 with the singer-songwriter Ruggio and in 2021 with the band Maxima.
He collaborates regularly with Stefano Bertolani, Mel Previte, Robby Pellati, Blu di Prussia, Daniele Gallinari Quartet, Stefano Bergamini.
As a classical pianist he has won numerous piano awards such as the "Città di Palermo", "A.M.A. Calabria", "Premio Città di Camerino", Third prize at the "Hyperion" Competition in Ciampino and numerous others.
Teaching activity
From 2009 to 2012 he was a piano and music education teacher at the "G. M. Colombini" high school in Piacenza.
He taught piano at the music schools “Non solo note” in Bagnolo (RE), CEPAM in Reggio Emilia
He published two books of educational arrangements for violin in collaboration with Elisa Mancini (Violino all’Opera vol.1 and vol. 2) published by Notami editions.
Since 2019 he has been a music teacher at secondary school and piano at the DoReMi school in Rubiera (RE).
