Luigi Glielmo (LG) holds a Master in Electronic Engineering (5-year “laurea”) degree in Electronic Engineering and a research doctorate in Automatic Control, from University of Naples Federico II, where subsequently he returned to teach after also having taught at University of Palermo.
After more than 20 years at University of Sannio (Unisannio) in Benevento, where he has been Head of the Department of Engineering (2001–2007), Rector’s Delegate for Disabled Students (2002–2007), Rector’s Delegate for Technology Transfer (2009–2019), Coordinator of the PhD program in Information Engineering (2009–2016) and then in Information Technologies for Engineering (2013–2021) and established GRACE, the Group for Research on Automatic Control Engineering, he is now back to Università di Napoli Federico II. He pursued active research over the years on a variety of topics: singular perturbation methods, model predictive control methods, automotive controls, deep brain stimulation modeling and control, smart-grid control, satellite autonomy, modelling of protein transport in eukariotic cells, Boolean control networks. He has co-authored more than 200 papers published in international journals or international conference proceedings, co-edited two books, and holds two patents. A senior member of IEEE and member of SIAM, he is currently vice-chair of the Conference Board of IFAC, the International Federation of Automatic Control.
