Experienced STEM teacher with nearly two decades of experience providing engaging and innovative educational experiences for all learners.
I studied Secondary Science Education as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University in 2003 and I have been teaching ever since.
In the summer of 2021 I completed a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Science and Mathematics Education from Michigan State University. I also completed the requirements for the Online Teaching and Learning Graduate Certificate from MSU.
I have taught IB Physics, AP Physics (C, 1, and 2), Chemistry, Earth Science, Sports Physics, and Physical Science. Hands-on exploration and inquiry always excited me as a student; therefore, as a teacher these are common characteristics of the courses I teach. I believe conceptual understanding is supported as students investigate, analyze, design, engineer, test, collaborate, engage in argumentation, and problem solve.

I live in the mountains of western North Carolina with my wife and three kids. We enjoy exploring nature and downtown Asheville, NC.
In my spare time I enjoy hiking and fly fishing for trout and smallmouth in the numerous rivers found in the area.
