I'm Lucy Greenburg. I write middle grade novels, stories, and slice-of-life humor essays. My novel Violet Crunkly and the Truth about Pigeons is set in the town where I was raised: New York City. It was the perfect place for nosy kids like me who liked to eavesdrop. In subways, elevators, through thin apartment walls. All around were juicy snippets of conversation that fired up the imagination. But eavesdroppers hardly ever get the full story and that was what I craved most. The solution, it turned out, was surprisingly simple. All I needed to do was to write the story, myself. 

Now I live in Western Massachusetts where I write, learn languages, volunteer and perform magic tricks for my grandchildren. When I write for middle graders, I aim to create characters they will remember as friends.
