The Australian Silver Kookaburra series of coins is an ongoing issue of beautiful 99.9% fine silver bullion coins from Australia’s famous Perth Mint that celebrates one of the country’s great national symbols: the Kookaburra. Native to Eastern and Southern Australia, these iconic birds are the largest members of the Kingfisher family and are known across Australia for their distinctive song and for the tenacity with which they defend their nests. Since their introduction in 1990, Silver Kookaburras have been prized by collectors who eagerly await the unveiling of a new design each year.
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 99.9% pure silver in specimen quality.
The coin’s reverse features the Australian Kookaburra perched on a tree stump, surrounded by leaves. “Australian Kookaburra” titles the top of the coin while the year, weight and purity of .999 silver line the bottom rim.
The coin’s obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse, and the monetary denomination.
