About
Dr Lucien von Schomberg is an award-winning educator, researcher, speaker, and consultant whose work explores how we cultivate human judgement.
He is Associate Professor in Creativity & Innovation at the University of Greenwich and Academic Portfolio Lead for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Sustainability.
His research spans responsible innovation, philosophy of technology and business ethics, with publications in Philosophy & Technology, Synthese, Sport Management Review and the Journal of Responsible Innovation. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Responsible Innovation and serves on the editorial boards of NOvation: Critical Studies of Innovation and Philosophy of Management. In 2026, a special issue he co-edited received the EASST Amsterdamska Award for creative collaboration in Science and Technology Studies.
Lucien has secured more than £160,000 in external research and knowledge exchange funding, including over £100,000 as Principal Investigator, and has contributed to European research consortia worth approximately €15 million. He is also the creator of ethixCube™, a game-based approach to ethics education used across higher education and industry, including with KPMG and the Institute of Business Ethics.
From 2023 to 2026, he led the development and implementation of Greenwich’s BA Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which achieved 98% positivity in key areas of the 2026 National Student Survey. Lucien has received multiple teaching awards, including the Visionary Teaching Award in 2026 and the Inspirational Teaching Award in 2024 at the Student-Led Teaching Awards. He was also selected as one of seven worldwide finalists for the ICSB Entrepreneurship Educator Excellence Award in 2026.
Beyond academia, Lucien runs a professional ethics training consultancy and works as a playwright and actor, with productions at London venues including the Etcetera Theatre and Union Theatre. He is also a UEFA A licensed football coach with more than ten years of coaching experience at leading European clubs.
