Agricultural Engineering Major
Omar Cabrera, was born in Watsonville Ca, a small farming town. He is a first generation mexican/american by immigrant parents from Michoacan Mexico. Growing up he was never sure on what type of career he was going to pursue, because he was more interested in knowing how things worked. Schooling was a struggle because the focus is on being fast not about how much you understand. Thankfully these obstacles opened his eyes to the field of Engineering. Currently he is studying at Cabrillo College and wants to transfer to San Diego State to become a Mechanical Engineer. He is excited to be participating in the Engineering Abroad Program because he wants to be part of an engineering team that is determined to help out a community that desire the solution they can provide.

This is my third year here at Cabrillo hoping to transfer to San Jose State. I have been interested in engineering for as long as I can remember. When my father came to this country he talked to me about all the things that I can create here and I became passionate about it. Being apart of L.U.C.E.S I want to give back to the community and show younger generations that they can create amazing things too.
