Exploring a world connected by species interactions
Exploring a world connected by species interactions
I am an ecologist interested in species interactions, community ecology, ecosystem functioning and biogeography. My research focuses on how communities of interacting species respond to environmental changes at local, regional and global scales.
I grew up in São Luís, Maranhão, Brazil and received a bachelor's in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Federal do Maranhão in 2015. As an undergrad, I studied communities of butterflies in fragments of Amazon forest.
I completed my Masters in Ecology and Evolution at the Universidade Federal de Goiás in 2018. My thesis explored the structure and composition of plant-insect interactions in the Cerrado savannah of Brazil.
I received my PhD in Ecology from the University of Canterbury (Aotearoa New Zealand) in 2023 and held a position as postdoctoral fellow at the same institution from 2023 to 2025. During this period, my research contributed to reveal how plant-frugivore interactions are distributed across the globe and how disturbances in ecological networks propagate across space and time.
I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at Lincoln University - Te Whare Wanaka o Aoraki, where I'm investigating the direct and indirect impacts of invasive wasps on the ecology and functioning of New Zealand ecosystems.
