TicketFix: Movie Tickets
TicketFix: Movie Tickets
To begin empathizing with users, I came up with a unique persona to capture the essence of target users. Coming up with diverse personas with a unique set of qualities and hinderances such as poor eyesight, ensures that designs are equitable and accessible for all.
With Alberto's unique characteristics in mind, we could design our web flow with large buttons and easy-to-read text, as well as universal icons to help him navigate as a non-English speaker.
Conducting further user research, I asked several (5) movie goers about their experience with buying movie tickets online. More specifically, I asked them about what the most frustrating part of this process was, as well as why it caused frustration. I found the following:
Throughout the ideation phase, my aim was to design a web flow optimized for a distraction-free checkout process, as well as an effecient and convinient browsing experience.
Here I practiced with crazy eights to quickly come up with design ideas for the overall flow of the website. The goal was to come up with as many design ideas as possible within a short period of time.
I also decided to make several rough concept sketches for what a homepage would look like. This way, I could highlight the best elements from each version and use them to make a much stronger homepage.
During the prototyping phase, I got to bring my ideas to life through low-fidelity wireframing. I went with a design that places movies to watch front and center, minimizing additional features as much as possible.
On top of being my first experience designing for desktop and adobe XD, this project was also my first experience experimenting with responsive web design. Translating pages from desktop to the responsive mobile format was a fun design challenge and designing it to be consistent with the web version was very satisfying.
User testing revealed 2 distinct insights on how the current design could be improved. Criticism was little, as most of the feedback was positive.
With these insights, I could now begin improving my designs, building additional features into the user flow as well as adding color + images for a new and improved high-fidelity prototype.
TicketFix is a new take on traditional movie ticketing web design, allowing users to quickly swap out showtimes, movies and show dates without interrupting the user flow. the organization and structure of the site is optimized for a distraction free, visually appealing experience.
This project was my first experience designing for desktop as well as with responsive web design. Learning how to get around a completely new design tool was frustrating at first, but very stimulating and enjoyable once I got the hang of Adobe XD.
