Welcome to Dread Rally, a 3D arcade racing game where you must outlast 11 other racers in order to become the people's champion! While racing you must entertain the audience with fancy flip tricks or with the destruction of your opponents all while trying to go as fast as possible. Select your vehicle from the game's 3 factions: Brute Corp, Esotechnica, and A-Star. Play solo or with a friend in couch co-op through 4 tracks set on Mars during the aftermath of a corporate war between rival industries. We were heavily inspired by games such as Post Void, F-Zero, and Motorstorm and wanted to bring our own twist to the arcade racing genre. Do you have what it takes to survive the Dread Rally!
Dread Rally was developed as a senior capstone project. It was created over the course of two semesters. In the first, a short prototype demo was created as a proof of concept for a full game. In the second semester the prototype was greenlit to continue to full development. Dread Rally is a high speed racing game in which you are tasked to not only race around the course as fast as possible but also to destroy the opposing racers and claim your spot as the last racer standing.
For this project I joined the team as a member at the beginning of the second semester. During that time I assisted in the developmet of some of the race tracks hazards. In particular, I created a projectile artillery system that fired explosive projectiles at racers that they had to avoid. I was also primarily responsible for integrating the functionality of the players racing HUD. This was in order to convey crucial information to the player during the race.
