I am cognitive psychologist and neuroscientist leveraging creativity as a methodological lens to understanding diverse human experiences. I am particularly drawn to how people creatively experience and regulate emotions, and how art permits emotional experiences. I also investigate evolving understandings of creativity with respect to increasingly popular generative AI models capable of producing creative works.
Inspired by my own upbringing mixed across races, cultures, and nationalities, my research at Duke University relies on the principle of "connections." I value interdisciplinary work, collaborative engagement, and the overall bridging of different worlds. Accordingly, I also reflect this notion in my teaching– including as a TA, grader, and course organizer–and in my service. For such efforts, I have been awarded the Dean's Graduate, James B. Duke, and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships.
