Despite the title, this paper contains new results about discrete analogues of the q-difference Drinfeld-Sokolov reduction,  the q-difference Drinfeld-Sokolov, and the proof of a variation of a conjeture of Frenkel and Reshetikhin on q-caracters of  quantum affine algebras that are prooved with the tools developed in the paper "Cluster structures on schemes of bands".

• A cluster theoretic approach to some problems in representation theory and geometry  

This text presents several results that have not yet been published in article form. This applies for instance to the results of Chapters 13 and 16  on spherical subgroups of minimal rank, their branching problem, and related cluster algebra structures. The decision to leave these results unpublished for now is intentional, as I chose to focus on developing new research projects during my postdoctoral period, which I considered a more valuable contibution then adapting already existing results in an article form.
