Three biodegradable materials were evaluated using a series of controlled filtration columns, referred to as “Eco-Towers,” alongside a control setup. Water sourced from Tar Creek, an Oklahoma Superfund site, was introduced into each tower. Water quality was measured both prior to filtration and following passage through each Eco-Tower. The materials tested include garlic, banana peels, and wastewater treatment sludge, commonly referred to as cake. All results, along with observed challenges and procedural adjustments, are documented in the accompanying Google document and spreadsheet. In addition, the filtration materials are examined under a microscope on a weekly basis to assess structural and biological changes over time.
