Thematic Line BioMath
BioMathematics in a Thematic Line of the Center for Research & Development in Mathematics and Applications (CIDMA), hosted at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Aveiro.
This Thematic Line is supported by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia), through CIDMA, within projects UIDB/04106/2020 and UIDP/04106/2020.
Responsible for the website: Cristiana J. Silva (cjoaosilva@ua.pt) and Vera Afreixo (vera@ua.pt)
The Biomath line :
cultivates innovation and advances to understand the intersection between biology and mathematics;
promotes collaboration and synergy between research members from different groups of CIDMA, jointing different members with distinct mathematical backgrounds to work on problems from biology, medicine, and epidemics;
promotes junior research work by financing several junior fellowships.
The members supervise the fellowship work in collaboration with medical doctors and researchers from different scientific areas. Biomath line organizes two annual meetings: the Biomathday - a meeting to discuss the future research to be developed by the members; and the Workshop in Biomathematics - a moment to disseminate the work developed during each year and to promote seminars in biomathematics actual research topics.
